This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to support and protect children and young people who are at risk of harm. This work occurs within legislative and policy frameworks and carries a duty of care responsibility
This unit applies to workers in a range of job roles providing services to children and young people including in community services and health contexts
It is recommended that this unit be renewed every 24 months in line with Industry Standards

Course Delivery
This course will be delivered in the Workplace or at Industry Training and Assessment Services facility
Course Duration
Initial Course - 8 Hours face to face and workplace practical tasks
Refresher - 8 Hours face to face and Workplace practical tasks
Course Requirements
There is no prerequisite, entry, licensing or certification requirements for this course, however the student must either be employed, find a workplace to volunteer time or have a trainer provide a workplace to be observed performing set of tasks
Workplace Arrangements
Workplace practical tasks are a requirement for this course
Participants undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and
practical assessment which include:

The participant must successfully complete all performance tasks, practical scenarios
and theory assessments in order to be deemed competent
