HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - Online Training

This non-accredited seizure course provides the skills and knowledge to an individual who works

with people who have seizures

 

This support role does not typically require specialist skills, provided the support worker has an

understanding about the procedures to follow

 

 Where a support worker administers epilepsy medication such a Midazolam, they also

need training in medication specific emergency management procedures

High-intensity support is relevant for people who also require emergency post-seizure medication (PRN)

 

Correct administration of this medication is critical and is considered a high-intensity

support activity that requires intensive training. The support worker also needs basic

first aid skills and knowledge required to provide CPR and place a person in a recovery position

Course Delivery  

This course will be delivered:

Online learning with face to face assessment completed onsite at your facility

Online

Entry Requirements

Support workers need basic first aid skills and knowledge required to provide CPR and place a person in a recovery position

 

They will also need training in medication specific emergency management procedures

Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work

prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic

device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies

Course Duration

Face-to-face min. duration 120 minutes

Online with face-to-face min. duration 15 minutes

Assessment Requirements

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks

Certificate Renewal Requirements

It is recommended that renewal for this course is undertaken annually (every year).

Work Placement Arrangements

No work placement will be required as part of this course

Assessments conducted during the face-to-face training session(s) include: 

  • Performance task – Managing a seizure incident

  • Documentation – Seizure Record Chart

  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions
